Topic: Any good calendar plugins out there?

My site is movie related and something that I would like to do is have both a calendar page and widget to help people know about new dvd's of the week.

For the widget, I simply want something that would link to the calendar page as well as list the dvd's which would be clickable and direct to amazon.

For the calendar page, I would like something similar to the widget.  Just have the list of dvd's on the day's square which would be clickable for amazon.

I've tried quite a few plugins, but none work like I would like.

Re: Any good calendar plugins out there?

Formidable Forms might be of use. It's basically a Form plugin that will allow you to customize the results as you wish. I use the pro version and I'm quite satisfied with all the possibilities plugin presents.

Maybe something like this? http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/all … -calendar/

Google - https://www.google.com/search?q=wordpre … =firefox-a

Thanks, but I don't think Formidable is going to work for me.  I've been playing with it, but can't get it to do what I want.

I've tried the all in one event calendar and of all the dozens I've tried, it is the closest.  But, again, not what I am looking for.  Also, the pages don't render properly for some reason that I can't figure out.  Oh, and it malforms the links which totally kill one of the main functionalities that I am looking for.

What are your needs out of this? Explain in detail and I'll try coming up with a solution.

Something pretty similar to the attachment.  A calendar which can be switched from month-to-month which has clickable links in it to go to Amazon or somewhere similar.  I also want a widget (but it can be done manually) which would list the same information, such as:

December 6, 2011

  • Amazon Link 1

  • Amazon Link 2

  • Amazon Link 3

December 13, 2011

  • Amazon Link 1

  • Amazon Link 2

And also it would be nice of the day of the month within the calendar were clickable to bring up a list similar to the widget list or even better, one that I can add graphics to for DVD covers or posters and such.

Thanks for trying to help!  I hope you can come up with a good solution since I'm running into dead ends.

Re: Any good calendar plugins out there?

Here is a quick sample of something I put together with Formidable Pro ($30).

http://profaneentertainment.com/dev/calender-test/

I can take that further and add a detailed single entry to show graphics, DVD covers, etc. I cannot however figure out how to sort them by date for the widget. Formidable Pro does also support creating posts from forms which might allow you to get it done with the use of the default widgets and sorting them by date.

I'm not saying it will do everything you want, but it's highly customizable.

That's not too bad actually.  I did purchase Pro after your initial post, but I couldn't figure out how to even create the calendar page.  Maybe I'm just not looking in the right place, but the documentation seems to be pretty scarce for how to actually use that plugin.

EDIT: I got the calendar to display on my testing site, but can't figure out how the heck to add entries to it.

Re: Any good calendar plugins out there?

Basically forms are what they are and custom displays are where you display the data (using shortcodes).

To add data to the custom display there is a thing to drop shortcode into the text editor from a drop down. Choose the title of the field (key) just to the right of the word Content in the drop down field to insert the shortcode into the text editor.

Okay, I'm making progress!  I think I almost got it.  How did you change the look of your calendar though?  Can't seem to figure that one out yet.

Also, can't figure out how to click on the day to link to a sort of master page of that date.  Hmm...maybe this is getting too complicated.  Ug...maybe this isn't a good idea.

I don't think you're going to be able to find anything to do EXACTLY what you want. You're probably going to have to find something with a medium.

I'll keep looking for something and let you know what I find.

Re: Any good calendar plugins out there?

I'm banging my head against the wall here trying to figure this out.  I feel like there is a somewhat simple solution that I'm missing, but can't put my finger on it.  I hate when that happens!

I found a couple sites that have a pretty good alternative to what I had originally envisioned.
http://www.joblo.com/blu-rays-dvds/rele … ;year=2011 & http://www.dvdsreleasedates.com/

They're not exactly what I would want to do, but if I could figure out an easy way to do it, it would be acceptable.  I'm just trying to figure out the quickest and easiest way to do it.  I don't want to have to spend hours every week manually coding a page for this.

And I would still like to be able to figure out some sort of calendar page...

Ug, again, I'm biting off more than I can chew here I think.

I can't come up with anything as detailed and sophisticated as you are asking for.

No problem, thanks a ton for trying to help though!

Re: Any good calendar plugins out there?

I think I found something that will work well.  It's AJAX Calendar.  It's not 100% what I want, but it's pretty good.  The only thing I don't like about it really is the widget.  I like the looks of the "all-in-one calendar" widget a lot better than this one.  Other than that, I think it'll work well.

Re: Any good calendar plugins out there?

I played with that and it was the one I liked the best as well.
