Topic: Categories have stopped working

Hoping someone can help me figure out what is happening to my site. As of yesterday the categories on my site have begun going to a 404 Page Not Found with exception of one, which redirects to a random post attached to that category.

Changes that were made to the site before it broke:

W3 Total Cache was updated
Permalink Editor was updated
Use Google Libraries was installed
All in One SEO was removed

And I disabled WP_CRON and manually set it to twice a day via my host as it was killing the server.

I have since deactivated W3 Total Cache with no change.

Using Arrars 1.5.0.1 with Wordpress 3.1.

Have you or a plugin changed your permalink settings?

I'm having the same problem. I have checked my permalink settings and they match up.

Can you provide a link and details on how to see the error? It can be rather difficult to determine a problem like this. I can tell you that cache plugins are not friendly with certain themes. (W3Cache killed my site a while back)

Just click one of the category links in the top navigation. Recently I have downgraded to a lower WordPress, but I had it on the most recent version and it was doing the same thing. I was hoping that downgrading would solve the problem.

Typically this is a .htaccess issue or permalink issue. Can you send me a screenshot of both? Probably shouldn't do it on here.

Those pictures cannot be viewed since you are hosting them on your site and links are broken.

Try disabling all your plugins and report back.

I'm suspecting the custom permalink one. You'll have to activated them one by one and figure that out.

Yes, it was a permalink one.. but it was a category based one. Already deleted the bugger out of spite.
