After updating wordpress and following this thread guide to add the new widget code I have a problem.
Take a look: http://thehorticulturalchannel.info/
The images in the slideshow have slipped and the nodes have a problem. They have fallen down as well. HELP!!!! THanks.
Sorted it!!!!!!
The widget "Simple form with captcha" caused the problem!
Awesome.
I followed the first post instructions...and voila! It works!
Thanks!
It is stated that upgrading the WordPress to 3.2 causes the Arras 1.5.0.1 to have problems.
What about the Arras 1.4.3?
I have not updated my Arras theme for sometime and still has 1.4.3.
I haven't updated the WordPress to 3.2 yet either.
Would 1.4.3. also have problems updating the WordPress to 3.2?
Should I follow the instruction for 1.5.0.1 as well?
Thank you.

If 1.5.0.1 has problems with WP 3.2, it is likely that 1.4.3 will have problems as the code is dated older than that of 1.5.0.1. I'm currently running WP 3.2 with 1.5.0.1, but I've manually made the updates available in the latest version of Arras. I did this over a period of time therefore I cannot advise you on how to make the update safely.
I plan on upgrading everything to WP 3.2.1 and Arras 1.5.1.2 (The latest versions available) at some point in the near future, as both run the latest updated scripts with latest security fixes.
I advise everyone to do the same. The safest way to check for updates is by running a staging or development environment on a sub-domain or in a sub-folder of your domain that is an exact replica of your current public website. (As always everyone should have a safe backup of all their files and databases before making the update.)
Thank you, dgodfather for the reply.
Hey guys, 2 questions:
1. I am under the impression to NEVER change the code in the original theme, so should I copy widgets.php and throw it in my child theme and edit it from there? This is what i'm thinking i need to do...
2. Since I am using a child theme, if i want to update the actual arras theme to 1.5.1, as people are saying this will work too, Im thinking i need to activate my arras theme, then upgrade it, then reactivate my child theme.
Both of these make me a bit nervous being that i never know how wordpress is gonna react and when its gonna feel like just locking me out of my dashboard! If anybody has any advice to offer I'd really appreciate it. Oh, and yea, im asking cuz i also made the WP update and got the same error line 404 blabh blah blah! Just reverted for now.
Thanks-
Star

1. This is probably the best idea for updating the theme outside of the user.css file.
2. Typically you won't have to do anything with regards to activating and reactivating themes. When you upgrade the Arras theme it only updates Arras files which the child theme simply refers to.
I do it, and recommend to others that you run a development site (exact replica) of your original site, either on a sub-domain or locally, and test ALL updates (plugins/wp versions/arras versions) and code changes the development site before pushing them live on your public site.
Assuming your talking about the widget error it's really quite easy to fix through a file manager (through your host) or via FTP. Please see http://www.arrastheme.com/forums/topic6 … ss-32.html
thanks so much for the quick reply!
Oh, but the question is how do I upgrade the arras theme if it's not my active theme?
Here is a link to the source files. Simply overwrite them through the file manager or ftp.

Warning: Make a backup first!
Maybe someone can help here:

Temporarily rename your plugins folder (using ftp or your web host file manager) to xplugins and report back.

done, but still nothing happend
The site shows up now for me. It didn't before.
When upgrading I got the server 500 error and tried everything to fix it. The solution to all my problems was simple as this! Thank you. Your a life saver. Wish I would have come across it earlier though in my troubleshooting!
I'm also have this issue (Fatal error: Class 'WP_Widget' not found in /home/period/public_html/wp-content/themes/arras/library/widgets.php on line 7) and I'm aware that I need to change the code. However I can't access my library through the wp-admin panel as it comes up with this message, equally with any url suffix (eg. /wp-content/themes/arras/library/widgets.php). I have access to cPanel, where is the best place to change the code?
Para corrigir este problema:
Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/bafanl/public_html/wp-content/themes/arras/library/widgets.php:971) in /home/bafanl/public_html/wp-login.php on line 353
vá até o endereço indicado no erro (via FTP), na linha 971, e delete (backspace) todas as linhas que tiver após o último fechamento (?>).
Salve o arquivo e pronto está resolvido.
Para mim funcionou.
Abraços!

Save the file and you are resolved.
For me it worked.
Hugs!
I tried an auto download of a program to wordpress that is set up to work with 1.5.1 for a website that uses an ARRAS theme. Needless to say, wordpress defaults to version 3.2 so the download does not work. Does anyone know if wordpress is addressing this issue ?
