Topic: Cinderella Motel, JohnHart Real Estate + Commodore Crush

New sites I'm working on that all use the Arras theme.

www.cinderellamotel.net (large custom header & navigation)

www.johnhartrealestate.com/blog (real estate co. with two navigation)

http://blog.commodorecrush.com/ (this last one is my personal blog)

I don't know about you, but Arras is still the best theme with the best options and the easiest to configure to my liking.

Re: Cinderella Motel, JohnHart Real Estate + Commodore Crush

May I ask how you did the following on the cinderellamotel site:

- the big empty space where the header would be
- made the nav bar completely transparent
- the semi-transparent/black background in the widgets

That information might a step into the solution of a very nagging problem I have on the site I am currently working on.

Would be much appreciated.

Hey Bloggitivity!

1. The big empty space is by adding margin in the css to the #nav-content

2. I took out the arras nav bar and actually just use rollover image links.  Probably not good for SEO purposes and probably not great coding, but I like the way it looks (so suck it internet.)

3. The semi-transparent background is actually a .png that you can change to whatever you want.  It should be located here:

/wp-content/themes/arras/images/foreground.png

Change it to whatever you like, keep the same name and re-upload the image.

HOPE THAT HELPS!

Re: Cinderella Motel, JohnHart Real Estate + Commodore Crush

I actually did change my foreground.png like this earlier today to make the body of my blog semi-transparent.
Will try to use it for the widget bodies as well. Thanks.

Not sure how the nav bar thing works, but will fiddle around with it as well.

Header: unfortunatley not a solution to my problem. But that isn't your fault of course  wink

No problem, hope you get it working.  I've found there's just a ton of trial and error involved with WordPress.

One thing I would suggest and get used to using (if you're a Chrome user) is the right click > Inspect element option.  It has massively helped me in trying to figure out code.  If you don't use Chrome, then I'm sure there's an equivalent option too in your browser beside just viewing the source.

My next project is making a theme from scratch!

Cheers!

My next project is making a San Diego Hotels and or Downtown San Diego Hotel theme from scratch!

Cheers!

Using Chrome has been the easiest for me.  I was working with other and finally went to Chrome.  So much easier for code.
