Topic: Adding icons to categories/posts

Hi,

i recently started using wordpress and after looking at many themes i settled for arras theme as it seems to very well designed. One option I would love to see added to the theme is an option to set icons for categories/posts(sample attached). An option like this could be used for several things like filetype(PDF,VIDEO,IMAGE,etc) console type(XBOX,PS3 etc as in the mockup) or genres(action,platform,etc.)

There are several post types/icon plugins available but are either not compatible with the latest wordpress or no longer developed.

Wow, I totally support this, it looks really great in the screen-shot.
I'm hoping that whoever sees this, may consider adding this to the theme. It will be just great!  big_smile

I am using "Categorie Icons" for my page.

Using: Wordpress 3.0.4 (newest at the moment), Buddypress and other Plugins.

And there are no problems with category icons.

I'd like to extend this feature request a little by including default category-based thumbnails which can appear in the node-based tapestry. This changes the logic of the arras_get_thumbnail() in library/thumbnails.php to work like this:

1) Is there a thumbnail attached to the post? If yes, use it.
2) Is there an image int he post we can use as a thumbnail? If yes, use it.
3) Is there an image file in the media library or disk directory which matches the post category? If yes, use it.
4) Use the default 'nothumbnail.png' image for a thumbnail.

Also support this! would be great to have categories shown on the home-page, whether using icons or not.
