Topic: Google Ads

Hi there,

Hoping someone can help with the following.

I'm having difficulty with my 300x250 advertisement that is the first widget on the right column. For some reason it displays as a blank yet all the other ads appear to work. These other ads are hardcoded onto the page so perhaps this could be this reason.

Anyone know how I can get around this issue? Is there somewhere I can hardcode the 300x250 so that it appears above the widgets in the right column?

Very easy. Log in to your Google AdSense account, copy the HTML code for the appropriate banner size then paste this code into either
a) a text widget
b) directly onto the page where you want the ad to appear

Create an adsense account,then, choose a layout that will fit your design and copy paste the generated html code into your site.

Hi,

I have just got the arras theme and was researching into how to add my google adsence on it and found this thread. I have joined this forum as I know the answer to your querie. I see that you haven't found out why your add wont show. It is because you can only have three google banners/adverts on one page, and you already have these so your square banner will never show until you remove one of the others. Perhaps you can remove the lowest banner?

Just out of interest, which widget did you use for your amazon bit at the bottom of your home page, its great and I cant see to find anything like it?

It's called 'Amazon Showcase'. It's an excellent little widget, you might notice that you can have several items listed in each section so when you refresh the page it changes each time.

I'm new at this. How can I make an Adsense ad?  Every time I write an ad, Google slaps me down. Are there specific words that could stop my ad? (Outside of swear words) Any help would be appreciated.

I think you put so much advertisement on your site. It happened the same thing to me too... One page should only contain at most 3 ads...

If you have many Google ads on your home page and you are trying to place that ad there then it won't show because of many ads that you have at your home page. I had same problem with my Google ad in one of my blog and I found out that it was because of my many ads in at my home page. If your Google ad works on other pages of yours then it is all about many ads at your home page.

You can have 3 Google ads on any one page, anymore and they will show as a blank.

It also take a few minutes till the ad is going to show up on your site. Just so you know. Also, the limit of Adsense ads per individual page is 3.

It`s not obligatory to remove the fourth ad! just make it to display the background color.
there is no limit for adsense ads and you can not know when there will be an ad to display! so I suggest you keep the ad.

Though a page can only have up to 3 google banners, you can still include Ads from other sites. However, spamming the webpage full of ads is not the best way to impress your viewers. It also depends who is hosting your website. Some webhosts have strict guidelines about ads.

there are many ways to add google ads on your website for wordpress. the easiest way is probably use a plugin such as AdSense Manager, or just search for one in your plugin tab of your admin panel.

But I find plugin usually don't work or display the add poorly. It  is best that you know some CSS and customize your sidebar.php file and place the add manually.

It really is the number of ads isn't it? I was wondering what the heck was going on the last time I messed with ads. Guess, from a readability perspective that's what I get for trying to squeeze more in on my home page.
