Arras Theme 1.4.1 is now available in WordPress Themes Directory:

Change Log

  • Added checks if Javascript is disabled, height for each news/footer node will be static if disabled

  • arras_get_thumbnail() will now return false if no thumbnail is detected either method

  • Improved hit area for featured slideshow

  • Brought back single post thumbnails

  • Tweaked legacy.css to look more like 1.3.x

  • Improved nonce checks on theme admin pages

  • Changed #multi-sidebar to .multi-sidebar since multiple instances of the widget can be used

  • Added semi-transparent foreground feature

  • Added custom background option

  • Improved styling on post content

  • Improved look on 404 and missing post pages

  • Fixed default navigation buttons not aligned properly

  • News posts will now show based on archive display type on 'Older Posts' is click on home

  • New function arras_render_posts() can now be used to render new posts more easily than arras_get_posts()

  • Made more tweaks to hyperlinks in default.css

  • Revamped custom fields appearance, made tweaks to hyperlinks in default.css

  • Fixed duplicate META description when All in One SEO plugin is activated

  • Revamped footer layout

  • Fixed <link>'s media attribute (projection, not projector)

  • Used get_comments() instead of a direct query for Latest Comments in multi-tabbed sidebar

  • Fixed thumbnails not displaying properly in archive and search templates

  • Heights for each individual nodes for node-based display type will automatically adjust to the longest node

  • Fixed featured content box not transparent in IE

Some issues I've ran across and comments:

  • The navigation menu displays beneath the featured content gallery. (A z-index problem?)

  • I'm assuming the amount of text in the "Featured Posts #1" area is causing a confusing layout. (http://trusupremekillaz.com/tsktesting/)

  • Is it possible to have just "Boxes" (rectangles around the content areas as before - Arras 1.3.6) for the main content instead of a white background? Maybe if you add an option of "Your choice" color background or none.

  • The single column content area is wider than the footer content area.

  • The background image does not fit correctly on small content pages. Shouldn't it still span the entire height of the image? (http://trusupremekillaz.com/tsktesting/ … nity-wall/)

Side Note:
I think that everyone would like the post images to be centered instead of left aligned. Based on many  forum posts many of the problems with this theme are alignment related. There needs to be a way to select top-left, bottom-right, center... etc. for each page that uses an image. It would be even better if there was a way that the theme could automatically detect what needs to be done to fit the image to the css style used such that it is easy on the eye.

How can I center the post image on a custom template page?

Is there a way to fix this yet? I've been looking at the css for like...2 hours. I can't find it anywhere.  I want that #F1EFE6 color gone so my background image shows up. I loved the way it looked in...what was it, 1.3.6? Am I missing it somewhere? Or is there just no way to get rid of that?

cant seem to find this functionality. - ignore: found it "Customn ackground" - obvious really.

Also: What is the ideal size for thumbnail images? I've got the original images set to 650x250 pixels, but when i chose the option to show thumbnails in single posts the image is cropped on the right size.... would like to avoid that by only uploading images of a size that will display fully in a single post.

Your response is a bit harsh don't you think? This guy is doing this for you... for FREE!!

I do agree the testing/bug period should have been longer however he's getting it done and at a rate that is much faster than any of his previous releases. Be patient and most of all be thankful.

I'd love a way to add another section under the slideshow. At the moment I have slideshow, then reviews, then DVD reviews and ideally I'd like to add another row of seperate nodes.

Does anyone know how i might do this if its something thats currently do-able?

I'm not aware of anything done. You could add a new widget area and find a widget to suit your needs.

When I doubled up the code and removed Arras_get_option it inserted a third section and it didnt repeat the chosen category from the first and second sections.

But I couldnt find a way to specificy which category i'd like to be shown instead, all i get is a random host of various posts.

So does anyone know what to do or change, or what i'd need to insert into the code to specify category, as usually it takes it from the Arras_get_option.

JamesWright, I`m looking for the same posibilities... i would love to see a function that allows me to choose how many sections i want... At least more then just two... up to 6 would be nice... wink

Ha, got it. You need to set the background color in the custom background option.
