That's a good start. I see your stripping down the theme and getting rid of the borders and background images. Simple is always best in my opinion.

I just updated to 1.4.1 and just started editing the theme again.

This will make the current page black. You can piece the rest of the code together perfectly

I Currently Only have been able to do the background still working on the hover and active page image.

About the nieuws page it seems to be caused by displaying the date and comments in the arras options. when removed its looking good:p
