Total rookie here.  My apologies if this is too basic and/or a duplicate entry. I searched for this same thing all over the web and this forum but couldn't find exactly this question (probably because it is so basic) 

Anyway, I'm working on a test system at the moment so I don't have a URL to share yet, but the "Featured" and "Latest" posts listed in the tabbed sidebar are always the same.  I cannot find any setting to change these or to apply appropriate categories to.  (I use a "Featured" category to move posts into the Featured Slideshow, etc).  Since I can't find settings for this, what logic is the tabbed sidebar using to determine what is considered "Featured"?

Thanks in advance for the reply.  These forums are great and the moderators/gurus responding are first class.  It has made my first experience learning WordPress and a theme very simple!
