Topic: Buddy Press compatible and pre-made child themes
A lot of us have gaming sites or at least review sites. Recently I've incorporated Buddypress (and subsequently bbpress) to my site (with so-so success).
One of the issues Iv'e run into is the child themes, granted I've not yet made one, but I'm working on it. In that endeavor I've thought it would be really nice if there was a child theme premade, for the buddypress end of things. It's not really a theme designed to have a forum attached to it, and I think many of us would benefit from something to allow it or an easier way to incorporate one from a visual aspect.
Currently there are plugins that conform buddypress to the theme used even if it's not a buddypress compatible theme... but it really screws the site consistency.
feel free to see what I'm talking about on my site:
I had to edit the bg image to have some kind of light bg color because there arent any panels behind things.
That said, I mean no disrespect to Zy or arras theme... it's hands done one of the better themes I've used, one of the best supported, and I plan to continue to use it for as long as it is useful to the site purpose (I've actually tried to limit the site growth some because there are things I'd love to have that the theme seems unprepared to do... that and I don't know a damn thing about PHP and can barely spell CSS, so there's that too.)
EDIT:
Also, since I'm thinking about it... I think it would also be nice to implement icons between 16-32 px for widget headers and categories on the page and within the drop down menus. With WP, I've read that they're going to be useing the Moo Tools menu system which could make pixopoint something we dont need anymore. That said, it may not be too hard to add code to simply add an icon next to the menu text. For example, on my site, next to the Reviews I would like to have a review icon, which would be the same icon in the 'reviews' widget and the same icon used for articles posted with no thumbnail. Conversely, within Reviews, I have a sub category titled PS3, and I'd perfer to represent that category with... hmm... the PS logo (as an example). That logo or whatever icon the user chooses could then be applied to all categories or sub categories with the same slug (as opposed to title).
Good idea? bad idea?
