I can't find if this has already been asked: is Arras Theme 1.4.3.1 100% Wordpress 3.0 compatible?
I am currently running Wordpress 2.9.2 and Arras Theme 1.4.3 and want to upgrade to WP 3.0 and AT 1.4.3.1, so just checking.
And what would be the best way to upgrade: first AT from 1.4.3 to 1.4.3.1 and then WP from 2.9.2 to 3.0 or vice versa?
Hey!
My Weblog was based on the latest version of WP. I think it was 2.9.2 oder 2.9.3.
I downloaded it a few days ago, that is why I am sure it was the latest version.
As theme I was using Arras 1.4.3.1
Today I updated my blog to WP 3.0 and now I am not able to get into the backend, the admin interface (wp-admin). This wouldn't be so awful, because I only had 4 articles online.
I just thougt, well, let's install the new version of WP in a new folder of my webspace and the problem will be solved. Well, I did it and installed also Arras 1.4.3.1 - but there was the same problem. The top navigation wasn't there. When using the old Wordpress version, I was able to go to the "Arras Theme Options" and choose how the top navigation should look like (do I want to show pages, categories or links).
This possibility is not more available.
I would be glad if you could help me. Are there planned any updates concering the Arras Theme for Wordpress 3.0?
Kind regards,
Andy
PS: Another weird thing is that some parts of the admin interface do not work with Wordpress 3.0
It shows this notice:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 491520 bytes) in /srv/www/web312/html/wordpress/wp-admin/menu.php on line 235
Arras Theme works fine with WP 3.0
See appearance - menus to build a menu. The navigation part of Arras is now obsolete.
extatix, since you seem to have a lot more upgrade experience than I have, could you point me in the right direction as to what to do when upgrading? I don't want to get into a situation where I might have to reinstall everything, you know? ;-)
I guess it wouldn't hurt to upgrade to Arras Theme 1.4.3.1 first, but is there anything else I need to worry about or look out for when upgrading to Wordpress 3.0?
And on a side note: what does Wordpress 3.0 do for Arras Theme? Does it become more flexible or are there any new features in Arras Theme thanks to Wordpress 3.0? Just curious.
Updating to WordPress 3.0 didn't hurt me one bit, even while running 20+ plugins. The only thing that changed was the menu. You have to build a new one under Appearance - Menus. That's the only thing I encountered so far which really changed.
But that menu stuff is wonderful, it made two of the plugins I ran obsolete.
It comforts me knowing that your installation didn't get hurt beyond repair, so I have good hopes the upgrade won't hurt my website either. What the heck... I'll just upgrade right away and let you know in a minute.
Nice... just upgrade and it didn't hurt my installation at all. Only the menu, like you pointed out already. But that's just a minor thing, I'll get that fixed in a minute.
Funny thing is that my Arras Theme translation has been overwritten with the English one, while Wordpress remained Dutch. Gives me a good reason to translate 1.4.3.1 to Dutch. :-)
Thanks for your feedback!
Hey!
I've solved my other problem and have one additional question.
I want to modify the appearance of single posts, which means to modify font and height of it.
I already had a look into the default.css but did not find anything adequate.
I would need help as fast as possible.. ![]()

Running 1.4.3.1 and upgraded to WP 3.0 and can't get the menu working at all, the menu bar is just completely blank.
*sigh*

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 122880 bytes) in /wp-admin/includes/file.php on line 346
when i look at the rule i see:
$url = $uploads['url'] . "/$filename";

Hi since Wordpress has upgraded to 3.0 the navigation of the theme has gone. I need urgent help.
Thanks Zy! Your a legend!
The best way is described (in minor detail) here;
hey extatix
is there a quick user css to remove the 'date' and 'comments counter' on the featured post thumb nodes?
nagamasantik.com
thanks once again guru
Yeah, search for 'black bar'.
Is there any way to "downgrade" from 1.5.0.1 back to 1.4.3.1? I checked the download page for the Arras theme on wordpress, but they've removed the older version.
An alternative solution would be if I can fix the slow loading time on my first page at blogonfashion.com , I've tried both W3 and total cache, but it doesn't help. Now it takes between 8-20 seconds to load, 1.4.3.1 was much faster.
One month ago I didn't know anything about wordpress or building websites at all, so please don't be so "techy" in your reply
