Topic: Arras Theme 1.5.2-RC1 Now Available

This minor release contains bugfixes and certain optimizations to the backend code, as well as full compatibility with WordPress 3.3.

Key Features:

  • Sharing a post on Facebook will now display its thumbnail properly

  • Default tapestry will show all content by default regardless of node height setting.

  • Node height setting has been replaced by 'Nodes per Row'.

  • Added support for 'automatic-feed-links' theme feature. Custom RSS feeds will no longer be allowed.

  • Improved usability and styling of search box. Props to issue owner (Issue #152).

  • 'Popular Posts' in multi-tabbed sidebar now require WordPress.com Popular Posts plugin to work.

  • Full list of changes at Google Code

Current Issues:

  • Default tapestry will produce a PHP error if nodes per row setting is set to 0

  • Custom background function is not working as intended

  • Layout breaks when default tapestry contains a number of posts that is not a multiple of 'nodes per row' option

Re: Arras Theme 1.5.2-RC1 Now Available

I have updated to Wordpres 3.3 and Arras.1.5.2-RC1. The layout is working fine to all browser except Firefox 8.0.1 (latest version). I have set the number of 'Nodes' per row to 3, and it seems it cannot align horinzontally at Firefox. It was ok with the previous Arras version 1.5.2. Please help me to have a look and let me know me how to solve this. Thanks beforehand.

Re: Arras Theme 1.5.2-RC1 Now Available

Applied the WP 3.3 update, then applied Arras 1.5.1 RC1.
I've just managed to cobble the layout of my site back together, but facing some irritation and not sure how to fix.  The home page won't show any of my posts in anything, slideshow, featured 1, 2, top stories, etc...

If I change the taxonomy to use pages for home page content they come up, but if I go back to posts, I just get the headings of "featured", etc... with no posts or content...if someone has any ideas, I can fix it and go to bed...or look at LED TV's...both of which, I'd rather be doing smile.

Update.  Attempted clearing cache, using alt browser, no dice.  I have a new wrinkle as well. 50/50, either I change from posts to pages and back in taxonomy and get nothing in the main column but the featured posts heading (not post headings), or I get 2 of many posts and my sidebars disappear - currently happening at http://www.geekdadlife.com.  If you go off the main page to a category, sidebars pop back, and posts show up as they should on category archive pages.

OMG, how silly am I??!! It was not the theme problem but caused by Firefox cache. I removed the cache and it is displaying flawlessly now. Sorry for my mistake.

Re: Arras Theme 1.5.2-RC1 Now Available

Having played a bit around with the previous version (arras.1.5.1.2.zip) i tried this new rc1 version. But i am having a bit of trouble: The site does not seem to allign correctly. The right sidebar will be placed below the other content, leaving the right space empty.

What am i missing, the previous version worked nicely out of the box? :-)

Best regards

Re: Arras Theme 1.5.2-RC1 Now Available

So great to see development back in action, I was beginning to worry.....

For those having problems, I'd suggest testing these updates offline. You should never roll out an RC to a live server. And always do a full back up before an update.

I can tell you though the last version of the theme works fine with WP 3.3. As far as alignment stuff goes and the sidebar, make sure you have content, I know when I tested it once with no content the sidebars would slide left. Also some times wrapping a DIV around the sidebar code might help.

Also don't forget to reset the theme when you upgrade, this way your DB gets cleaned up for the updated version.

Oh and did I mention make sure you backup and never put an RC version of anything on a live server? cool
